BVI has put in place …
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) locally known as “NATURE’S LITTLE SECRETS,” are by far the best sailing destinations in the Caribbean, and many believe, one of the best in the world. Due to warm weather year round, consistent trade winds, minimal tidal current, and line-of-sight sailing from island to island, the BVI is considered a sailor’s paradise.
The BVI is made up of over sixty islands with splendid white sandy beaches, plentiful marine life, crystal clear, lush blue and green waters with breathtaking sky scenes.
Singing Winds Yacht is ready to host your Virgin Island sailing adventure!
ANYTIME is a great time to visit the BVI! The BVI climate is subtropical and tempered by trade winds, generally coming from the east. There is little variation between summer and winter. Rainfall is low, varying slightly from island to island. Night-time temperatures tend to drop to a comfortable level. The peak tourist season is December to May, although this has more to do with the cold weather in North America and Europe.

A license is not a requirement, but you need to complete a sailing resume. We will be looking for recent experience of captaining a similar sized catamaran to Singing Winds, so experience with a vessel within 5ft in length of a 50′ catamaran and within the last 5 years. If you have a certification do mention it, as it will help. Depending on your experience, we may require you to take a captain for anywhere to 1- full-time days.
We can organize a captain for you. Whether it’s just for the first day to brush up on your skills, or for the entire charter. We can even hire an instructional captain for you, who can teach you and share his knowledge. Approximate costs are as follows: Day Checkout Skipper $200, Regular Captain $225 per night, Instructional $250 per night. You must also provide any meals for your captain and at the end, if you are happy, it is customary to tip. We recommend 10% of the charter fee (gross price). In the event that your captain is staying with you overnight, he will need she/he will need her/his own cabin within the main accommodation of the yacht. Our captains do not sleep in the Bow Cabins. Thank you. If you have any additional questions regarding captains, we are happy to help.

Temperature:
July and August are the hottest months of the year with an average temperature of 82°F/28 °C. Interestingly, September and October always feel hotter as there is less breeze to keep one cool with a higher level of humidity. The coolest months are December through March with an average temperature of 78°F/25.5 °C. These months also tend to include more wind from “Christmas Winds.”
Precipitation:
Rainfall is the lowest in February/March, with an average of 52 mm/2 inches per month. Our rainy season is in September-November with an average of 174 mm/6.9 inches per month. No need to worry though, most rain comes in the form of 10-minute squalls. So, simply go inside to grab a quick bite to eat or drink and the sun will most likely be shining again upon your return.
Wind:
During the winter months (November-January) the wind is from the northeast at 15-20 knots. The Christmas Winds can produce 25-30 knots for several days at a time. In February, the winds move to the east and by June it changes to the southeast at 10-15 knots. In September and October, the trade winds are at their weakest and the weather can be less settled when tropical systems come through.
Sea Water:
The sea temperature ranges from 77°F/25°C in January up to 84.5°F/29°C in the month of September.
Hurricane Season:
The official hurricane season is from June to November. But realistically the chances of tropical systems or hurricanes are from the last half of August through the end of October.
